Sean Solomon

Sean Carl Solomon (born 1945) is the director of the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University, where he is also the William B. Solomon was born in Los Angeles, California on October 24, 1945.
Solomon received his B.S. from the California Institute of Technology, and his Ph.D. in geophysics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1971.
